Industry Expert Interaction for B.Com (Hons.) Students
Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies organized an Industry Expert interaction for students of B.Com (Hons.) recently. The aim of the interaction was to enrich the students with the concept of digital marketing, and its importance and role in designing the e-commerce business models to fill the gap between academia and industry practices. Mr. Karan Shah was the resource person for the day.
Mr. Shah is a dynamic and versatile persona and an IIM Rohtak alumnus with 8 years of Industry experience. He started his first venture, Design Theory, in 2012 and is a founder of another venture, Skoreline Academy (Jan. 2019). He has also worked as Manager Marketing and Digital Initiative as well as Manager Sales in Tata Steel Limited.
He explained the concept and importance of ‘Digital Marketing and E-Commerce’ in today’s world. He introduced the historical side of the internet and then apprised the students with the present scenario of the business world. According to him, the present day business scenario depends mainly on internet in three ways a) to reach their customers, b) internet based apps c) and creating brand value among customers. He discussed various job opportunities in digital marketing such as Blogger, content writer, digital marketing, copy writer, social media manager, SEO executive / Manager and many more. There were further discussions about the marketing and budgeting concept and design thinking. He also explained the concept of how “less is more” in digital marketing.
He asked students to think of some business ideas during their studies here, for example: home made products, organic food, car wash, electrical, milk distribution, etc. He encouraged the young generation to choose entrepreneurship to generate more employment.
The session concluded with a warm Vote of Thanks and the speaker was presented with a sapling along with a book.
The session was able to effectively convey the industry practices in the area of ‘Digital Marketing and E-Commerce’ to the students.
