Inauguration of Two-day Conference- ‘MRCON 2020’
The two-day MRCON 2020: Conference on Building Sustainable Competitive Edge organized by the Faculty of Management Studies, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) was inaugurated today at Manav Rachna in the august presence of Padma Shri Dr. Pritam Singh; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, VC-MRIIRS; Dr. Deepti Dabas, Director, FMS; Dr. Hari Arora, Dean FMS & FCBS, MRIIRS; Dr. Nand Lal Dhamija, Senior Faculty, FMS; faculty members of the department, participants and students.
Mr. P. Dwarakanath, Director, Group Human Capital Max India was the Guest of Honour of the day. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Subir Verma, Professor, FORE School of Management.
Mr. Hari Arora said, “This conference is an earnest effort to bring together eminent practitioners, policymakers from industry, academia and the Government to discuss the ideas and debate on the theme”.
Mr. P. Dwarakanath shared that People Factor and Innovation can influence the leading edge of the industry. Quoting a few relevant examples from the industry, he said, ‘Technology is the means to achieve but ultimately it is people’. He said mastering the change is important because when you bring the change, sustaining the makes becomes equally important. He continued, ‘Top five Global Marketplaces were not there ten years back’. He ended his address by saying, ‘Leader is one who can cope with change not only which is predicted but which is unpredicted’.
Padma Shri Dr. Pritam Singh shared that people factor is very important for the businesses and besides being innovative, industries need to digitize as well. Dr. Sanjay Srivastava shared how teaching, industry and research are co-related.
Dr. Subir Verma shared the revealing statistics of the industry with the students and participants and said that Firms are the master of their own destiny. He said, “Reason behind the surviving companies is that they adapted to the changing scenario”. ‘Firms have to be innovative’ as innovation is the centre of sustainability.
This was followed by technical sessions on Sustainable Development by Dr. Gautam Negi, Professor, Lal Bahadur Shastri Insitute of Management; Customer Leadership by Dr. Samina Bano, Professor, Jamia Milia Islamia University; and Culture and Ethical Governance by Dr. Geetika Malik Chandra, Professor, Gurugram University.
Dr. Sahil Malik proposed the ‘Vote of Thanks’.
