IMMEDIATE IMPLANT PLACEMENT- AN EVIDENCE BASED APPROACH. LECTURE AND DEMONSTRATION.
Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge and Implantology organized a lecture and live demonstration on the topic Immediate Implant Placement- An evidence-based approach on 8th August, 2022.
Dr. Brijesh Patel was the resource person of the program who shared his immense knowledge from the basics to the complications of Immediate Implant Placement. He is a graduate of the prestigious Temple University and was bestowed as honor student in Oral Surgery. He has also been awarded Fellowship Diplomate in Oral Implantology by the International Congress of Oral Implantology by the International Congress of Oral Implantologist and American Association of Implant Prosthetics. He is known to have a flourishing practice in Chicago, USA and practices placing implants on the regular basis.
The registration began at 9:00am with a lot of students and clinicians present from the surrounding colleges in and around the capital. The interns and post-graduate students present from various departments participated in the conference with full zeal.
The Inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by all the respected dignitaries on stage in the presence of the Principal of Manav Rachna Dental College, Dr. Arundeep Singh and Director of MRCDE, Dr. Ashish Kakkar followed by a welcome note by (Prof & HOD) Dr. Pankaj Dhawan who introduced the speaker Dr. Brijesh Patel. During the ceremony, we had respected dignitaries, Dr. Puneet Batra, Dr. Pooja Palwankar, Dr. Nitin Arora, Dr. Sumit Bhateja present with us and special guest present (Prof & HOD) Dr. Abhishek Nagpal from SGT University, Gurgaon.
The lecture began at 10am after inauguration with full enthusiasm explaining the theoretical part related with implants and the anatomy associated with it. The importance of soft tissue and hard tissue present in oral cavity was explained in depth to impart knowledge to all the students from interns to post-graduates. After a full discussion there was a short break at 11:30am for tea and breakfast.
The second part of the lecture was resumed at 12:00am followed by case discussions with different techniques and treatment plans explained by the speaker with great excellency. There was a thoughtful interaction between the speaker and the students. The lecture ended at 2:00pm after which the lunch break commenced for an hour.
The later part of the program was marked with the live demonstration wherein, the resource person, Dr. Brijesh Patel provided the students as well as the staff with a detailed demonstration of implant placement. We learnt the art of placing implants in a more prosthetic manner and the benefits of using the different drills. It unlocked the doors of new horizons for the postgraduate students.
With the completion of the lectures, it was followed with felicitation of certificates at 3:30pm by the speaker himself. With this, the program came to a close and a vote of thanks was given followed by the national anthem.
