A fresher’s party NOVA KOMENCO means “The New Beginning” has been organized by II year students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International University on 19^th August 2017. More than 500 students of first and second year participated in the event and many of them showcased their talent in the field of dance, singing and Instrumental music etc.

The event started at 9.30AM at central lawn by lighting of wisdom lamp by Dr. N. C. Wadhwa (Vice chancellor, MRIU), Dr. M. K. Soni (Pro Vice Chancellor, MRIU), Dr. Krishna Kant Executive Director and Dean, FET, Dr. Naresh Grover (Dean Academics).

Dr. Krishna Kant welcomed all the students and said that today is the day of freshers but I wish that students will remain fresh throughout the life. He said that forget “I” which means pride and imbibe “WE” that denotes team spirit, so he advised first year students to make bonding with seniors.

Dr. M. K. Soni also welcomed all the freshers to MRIU family and said that the environment of the university is entirely different from school so it is the duty of all the seniors to guide their juniors about all the systems of the university. He said that these students are like clean slate so whatever is written on then will be for life. He also advised students for overall personality development.

By remembering his college days Dr. Naresh Grover urged senior students that never give wrong advice to their junior students and guide them in a proper way. He also advised the fresher students that time management is the important key to success. He also said that you are here not only to collect the degree but groom yourself in all the ways.

Dr. N. C. Wadhwa blessed the students and said that this campus is having very good and healthy tradition to welcome the freshers and this sends positive vibes to all. He said that we are the best performing institution and lot of credit should be given to the students. He advised students to participate in innovation events, fest, sports and all grooming activities.

The program was also graced by senior functionaries of the University including Mr. R. K. Arora, Registrar, Prof. I. K. Kilam, Dean Student welfare, Dr. B.S. Gill (Executive Director, MRIIC) and all the HODs. The event was hosted by Mr. Sankalp and Mr. Himang of second year FET.

As the mercury began to rise, the stage was left open for some unrestrained energy for first round of ramp walk for freshers. The students had faced the audience with full confidence. To welcome the fresher’s and make them feel a part of Manav Rachna family, the senior students have also gave performance through a musical fashion show, singing and dancing.  Joy and happiness could be seen in students of each and every course at the college when they saw the theater performance given by their seniors. II Year Student Deepansh also gave a mesmerizing singing performance

The Freshers have shown excellent performances on the stage in the second round. In the journey of selection of Ms.& Mr. Fresher, 2017, various competitions like ramp walk, talent show and questionnaires were hold. It was very difficult for Judges (Ms. Charu Virmani, Dr. Pooja Khurana, Mr. Ram Pravesh) to decide the winners as the amazing performances were given by freshers that even include flute and violin playing. Finally, Jatin (Mechnical) and Zimsha (Biotech) were selected as the Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher of Nova Komenco 2K’17.

Muskan Kumar (Biotech) and Abhishek (EE-Sukam) were selected as the best dressed female and male respectively. Abhishek Chauhan(CSE-CC) was judged as the Best performer of the day as he sang so well. Ms. Shubhi was judged as the runner up Ms. Fresher and also impromptu Actor.

Dr.Krishna Kant along with judges gave the prizes to winners and Mr. and Ms.Freshers’ Title. He appreciated all those who participated/volunteered in the event in order to encourage them to further indulge in more co- curricular activities. Finally Vote of Thanks was given by Sankalp Gautam of II year by thanking Management, VC sir, Pro VC Sir, Dean Academics, Executive Director and Dean FET and organizing committee of Nova Komenco. The event ended with lunch.
