Home is not where you live but also where everyone understands you and there is no better place than a college hostel where your friends become your family. To make a day to remember in hundreds of hosteller’s life, Department of Students’ Welfare, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies conducted a Hostel Eve on March 27, 2018.
Around 400 hostel students from Manav Rachna witnessed the eve along with Dr. I.K. Kilam, Dean Students’ Welfare, MRIIRS; Dr. Shobha Srivastava, Dy. Registrar, FET, MRIIRS; Mr. Vikram Sharma, Head-Central Library; Ms. Mamta from Central Library, and Ms. Asha, Warden- Girls Hostel and team DSW.
Event started with the welcome of all the dignitaries and the young and talented hostellers at Manav Rachna which created an aura of happiness and boosted up the energy level of the audience. A “Talent Hunt” was organized to choose Mr. and Ms. Hosteller. Sheema Armaan (2nd yr, CSE, FET – MRIIRS) and Amit Chandra (2nd yr, BCA, FCA – MRIIRS) were the anchors of the show. Students performed dance, sang songs and recited poetry. A huge number of students participated to win the title of Mr./ Ms. Hosteller. To interact with the crowd and engage them, a mimic act was presented.
This time not only National but International students also took part in the show and presented their respective cultural dances. Students from Nepal sang their National Anthem in the honour of their motherland. A group of Bhutanese students presented a cultural dance portraying a story of a boy and a girl. Students from Afghanistan also showcased a power packed performance.
The crown of Mr. and Ms. Hosteller 2018 was awarded to Mr. Prateek (1st yr, BCA, FCA) and Ms. Jyostana (1st yr, BDS, MRDC) respectively. Ms. Anusha (1st yr, B.Sc N&D) and Mr. Pema, student from Training Programme in Sports won the title of Best Performer of the day for their talent and were gifted hand full of chocolates and bouquet. Special attraction of the eve was a wonderful individual and group performances by a number of Bhutanese, Afghanis and Nepalese students who showcased ‘Unity in Diversity’ at Manav Rachna Campus.
After the declaration of the results, students danced their heart out on the DJ Beats and enjoyed the evening.
