Faculty Research Colloquium on Indian Railways Tourism Products
Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies (FCBS) and Faculty of Management Studies, MRIIRS conducted a Faculty Research Colloquium on the topic Indian Railways Tourism Products which was conducted by Ms Arkaja Garg. The speaker was welcomed by Prof Nand Lal Dhamija.
Ms. Swati Watts set the context for the colloquium by introducing the topic. Ms Arkaja Garg started the session by discussing benefits of Indian Railways and the special trains like Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot, Maharaja Express which have been designed for privileged customers. She also talked about the problem Indian railways are facing such as low occupancy. She concluded by highlighting the factors which are responsible for low occupancy in luxury trains, awareness regarding special trains and response of consumers towards these.
Prof Sarin gave the closing remarks and raised few research issues like study of variable pricing among various trains, comparative study of Indian and Chinese railway systems, etc.
