Exploration and Innovation filled day of MRU Orientation Program (Engg. students)
Freshers of Faculty of Engineering, Manav Rachna University were welcomed with an energizing yoga session by Dr. Shobha Srivastava, Deputy Registrar, FET, MRIIRS. An Engineering Exploration activity was conducted wherein projects by the MRU students of Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC) were displayed. Prof. Umesh Dutta, Deputy Director, MRIIC accompanied the students. B.Tech first year students explored the projects and were informed about the innovation and entrepreneurship eco-system of Manav Rachna and how their ideas can be transformed into entrepreneurial ventures.
Students also had a golden opportunity to interact with experts from MRIIC which started with a video of the Entrepreneurship Cell highlighting start-ups setup under the aegis of MRIIC. Dr. Pradeep Varshney, Director, MRIIC introduced the concepts of research as an idea, innovation being a prototype and incubation as product development under a startup. He also presented an overview of the facilities available at the Manav Rachna campus in the form of laboratories and the types of activities organized under the MRIIC.
Dr. Poulomi Ganguly, Director, Accendere Knowledge Management Pvt. Ltd., a partner of Manav Rachna guided students to evolve as researchers and apprised them with how they can establish a new start-up under the mentorship of Accendere mentors and publish research papers. Dr. Sukrit Silas, an internationally acclaimed scientist and scholar, and also the Director of SeqIndiaLabs Pvt. Ltd., discussed about how their organization is partnering with the Biotechnology Cluster of MRIIC to identify the Thalassemia using the genes of an unborn child.
Dr. Monika Goel, Head, Manav Rachna Business Incubator discussed the necessity of energy and passion in an innovator’s heart to setting up a new venture and making it a demanding product in the market. Dr. Bindu Agarwal, Head, Entrepreneurship Cell, MRIIC, brought forward some young entrepreneurs and innovators of Manav Rachna Vidyanatariksha, including, Anshu from Nature’s Drop.
Mr. Karan Narula sensitized the students about peer pressure and motivated them to follow the path that can lead them to the success and satisfaction.
