In its endeavour to revive the true spirit of a Woman and her lost sheen, Manav Rachna delved deep and taking inspiration from Adi Nari Shakti put together a highly evocative event ‘SWAYAM SI DDHA-Celebrating Being a Woman’ to mark International Women’s Day. Based on the theme of   ‘Empowering Her to Empower Him’, the event which is in its second edition, was put together by Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU). It was held at the campus here today wherein, Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI, mesmerized the gathering when she said, “International Women’s Day’ is a celebration of the narishakti that is predominant among all women. She is the architect of her family and society and has to be accorded the highest status. As conscientious citizens, it is our duty to help her walk shoulder to shoulder with men and find her rightful place in the sun.” 

 The programme also marked the launch of the Center for Excellence in Women Leadership and a panel discussion on the topic ‘Negotiating through Gender Identity at the work place’. The Centre would be a capacity building centre to nurture women in leadership roles.

Ms Astha Modi, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, NIT, Faridabad, while speaking on the occasion, said, “It is a known fact that the glass celing does exist and women like me have to continuously prove themselves in male dominated bastions. Having said that, it is important for us to face the challenges and find our own ways to work through them. This is what self-actualisation or Swayam Siddha signifies for me.”

Ms Modi was among the revered panelists that also included a galaxy of other women such as Ms Anjali Hegde, Head, Ancible Mobile; Ms Priyanka Garg, President Sreshtha Society and Co-Founder of Desi Cows; Ms Neemo Dhar, Dean, FMeH, MRIU; Ms Moon Mukherjee, Capacity Building Expert.

Ms Chavi Bhagrava, Dean, FMS, MRIU, rightly stated that a powerful ‘She’, makes a powerful ‘He’. Swayam Siddha had in essence effectively fulfilled that mission and goal. Her sentiments were echoed by Ms Neemo Dhar who advised women to find a level playing field through their excellence at work so that they are never judged on the basis of their gender roles.
