Prof A K Gupta and Dr Roopa Rani attended the International Conference on ‘Advancing Green Chemistry: Building a Sustainable Tomorrow’, being organized by Green Chemistry Network Centre, University of Delhi and Hindu College, Delhi at University Conference Centre, Delhi. The conference was sponsored by American Chemical Society and Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi. The following research papers were presented in the conference by Dr A K Gupta and Dr Roopa Rani from Department of Chemistry, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad:

1. Green Synthesis of Ag nanoparticles and its size effect on catalytic degradation of p-nitro phenol, Kajol Rana, Gunjan Arora, A. K. Gupta and R. K. Sharma

2. Degradation of Methyl Orange dye from synthesized silver nanoparticles – A Green Approach, Aarushi Sharma, Gunjan Arora, A. K. Gupta and R. K. Sharma

3. Detection of Salicylic acid and Sudan dyes in Spices: A Green Approach, Roopa Rani and Man Mohan Srivastava

The papers were well received by the audience.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr David Constable, Science Director, ACS-GCI, USA, who highlighted the advancements taken place in the Green Technologies. Dr Sanjay Bajpai, Associate Head, Technology Mission Division, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi in his keynote address, stressed upon the technological challenges in the conversion of saline water into potable water. Dr Anju Srivastava, Principal, Hindu College welcomed the delegates and Prof R. K. Sharma briefed about the spread of Green Chemistry Network in the country and also gave an overview of the program.

The conference was concluded with the valedictory address by Dr Satpal Malik, Minister of State, Ministry of HRD and Higher Education, Govt. of India.
