Department of Civil Engineering visits National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), Ballabgarh
The Department of Civil Engineering recently organized a one day industrial visit to National Council for Cement Building Materials (NCB), Ballabgarh, Haryana. A group of at least 40 students from the IInd Semester was led by Faculty members – Dr. Manju Dominic and Mr. Mudit Mishra respectively.
The group was imparted with a firsthand experience on the different testing services needed in processeing of cement at NCB. The various services included evaluation of raw materials and cement samples, evaluation of aggregates, durability tests of concrete, mechanical properties of concrete, concrete mix design and admixture testing and structural optimization and design.
The organization promotes research and scientific work in the industry. NCB’s areas of work span over the entire spectrum of cement manufacturing and usage. The various areas begin with geological exploration of raw materials for cement manufacturing, the processes, the machinery, the manufacturing aspects, energy and environmental considerations to the final utilization of materials in actual construction, condition monitoring and rehabilitation of buildings and structures.
