Day III Orientation 2020
On Day 3, freshers of ECE and ME department of Manav Rachna University were introduced to the Centre of Excellence of Altair. Along with this, a webinar was organized on Computation Fluid Dynamics, followed by the Introduction of Design Validation, and Application of Feko Tool.
The session was attended by ECE HoD, Dr. Shruti Vashist; ME HoD, Dr. Sujata Nayak and faculty members of both departments.
Mr. Joginder Singh, Associate Head- ME Department, gave a brief description of the CoE of Altair and NPTEL. He motivated the students to take the advantage of NPTEL and to think about their domain expertise. He informed the students about the domain of ECE like VLSI Design, Communication and Signal Processing, Power Systems and Power Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, and Photonics. Similarly, he discussed about the domain of ME like Product Design, Manufacturing Technology, Computational Thermo Fluids, and Energy System.
Mr. JP Sharma, Assistant Professor, ME Department, gave a brief description of Computation Fluid Dynamics i.e. Altair’s AcuSolve. It provides the tools to avoid the CFD pre-processing bottle neck and focus on exploring CFD simulation results. AcuSolve’s powerful solver technology provides the most robust solution in the CFD marketplace. AcuSolve’s proprietary numerical methods yield stable simulations and accurate results regardless of the quality and topology of the mesh elements.
Mr. Sharad Mahour, Application Engineer, DesignTech gave a brief description of Altair’s software products represent a comprehensive, open-architecture solution for simulation, data intelligence, and cloud computing. He discussed the Altair Inspire and Inspire Cast. Altair Inspire accelerates the creation, optimization, and study of innovative, structurally efficient parts and assemblies through collaboration.
Yogita Khanna, Associate Head– ECE Department gave a brief description of the Altair tools used by Electronics and Communication Department for designing and simulation of various products. In the session, the example of a mobile phone was taken to explain the Feko tool used for electromagnetic structure designing and evaluating the performance of components such as Gain, bandwidth, and Specific Absorption Rate. The projects being handled by the faculty and students along with Altair were showcased so as the students have a glimpse of the work being done by the Department.
The session was well appreciated by the students in the application world and they participated keenly during the discussions.
