COVID Task Force Webinar Series – Part II
For the well-being of the society a Task Force COVID 19 was constituted by Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI to contribute in all possible ways towards the fight against COVID 19.
The main objective of the task force was to enhance knowledge through connecting various research scientists working dedicatedly in COVID Research and further dissemination of knowledge among faculty, researcher and students.
COVID Task Force, Department of Biotechnology, organized the webinar series part –I, II & III on 4th, 12th and 19th June 2020 respectively.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Mahek Sharma, Associate Professor, IISER, Mohali on ‘Understanding the biology of SARS-CoV2 and how it causes infection’. It was conducted on 4th June 2020. Her speech was focused on the pathogenicity of virus, and how COVID is different from other viruses.
The second lecture of this series was on topic ‘Insights from SARS-CoV2 genomes from India’. It was delivered by Dr. Vinod Scaria, MBBS, Senior scientist, CSIR, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Adjunct Professor, IIIT-Delhi on 12th June 2020. He threw light on COVID genomics.
The third lecture of the series was on ‘COVID-19: Treatment and Therapies’ was delivered by Dr. Bhavana Muralidharan, Assistant Investigator DBT/welcome India Alliance Intermediate fellow, Institute for stem cell science and Regenerative Medicine GKVK Campus, Bangaluru, on 19th June 2020. She elaborated on different methods used in the detection of COVID infection.
