Character Building and Personality Development
Character building experiences take us out of our comfort zones and force us to ‘dig deep’ to find new resources within ourselves.
The second day of the workshop on “Character Building and Personality Development” commenced with the fragrance of healthy spirit of enlightening one and all. The workshop has been organized by the Faculty of Education, Manav Rachna University (MRU) and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN). The essence of building character through social practices, culture and universal brotherhood was spread across the participants.
Dr. Deshraj Sharma, Convenor, SSUN-North was the Chief Guest for the day. He emphasized on the role of teachers in nation building and spreading education like any other acclaimed movement. Then, he introduced the topic of the session, ‘Manomay Kosha’, i.e., mind development by giving illustrations. Manomaya Kosha is governed by thoughts in the mind, which are considered to have the power to both construct and destroy. That is why understanding of Manomaya Kosh is imperative for character-building.
Further, Dr. Jugal Kishore, Former Principal, DAV School, Delhi talked about ‘Vinaymaya Kosh’ and the power of reflection in character building in detail. Speaker of next session was Professor Alokdeep who discussed about ‘Anandmaya Kosh’ that it is the innermost of five koshas. The fourth session was conducted by Prof. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Executive Director and Dean, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (FBSS), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS). She provided hands-on experience to the participants in identifying individual personality. In addition to that, she also illustrated an activity ‘Johari Window’ that helps in improving interpersonal relationships and team building.
The session is definitely going to have nurturant effect on the participants. Indeed all the sessions of workshop enriched participants’ experience related to personality development and character building.
