Workshop on Gender Empowerment #MeToo
With International Women’s Day 2018 round the corner, Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation and Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (FBSS), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) celebrated the first day of three-day event “Swayam Sidha- Celebrating being a Woman” through various workshops. The workshops aimed to sensitize the people about the issues prevailing in the society and provide them with solutions.
The first day of the three-day event was inaugurated by Dr. Anjali Bhatia from Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) in the presence of Prof. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Executive Director and Dean, FBSS, MRIIRS, faculty members and all the participants.
The first workshop was conducted on ‘Gender & Society: Through a New Lens’ by Dr. Anjali Bhatia. With the use of interactive methodology, the workshop was conducted on the emerging and prevailing issues around gender equality in the society. The workshop involved hands-on exercises relevant for self-reflection. Architecture of gender, gender and intersectionality, mythology and gender, signs of gender and many more issues were discussed through real-life examples. Primarily focused on breaking stereotypes and made the participants aware, the workshop ended with great takeaways about gender and equality on individual level.
