The systematic review aimed to evaluate the effect of Diabetes mellitus on the healing and survival of endodontically treated teeth with periapical lesions. 10 studies were selected after an extensive search of electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, and EbscoHost.
The study selection was done by following the PRISMA checklist with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research protocol was previously registered in the International Prospective Register of Ongoing Systematic Reviews (CRD420191 30954). The pooled Odds Ratio was calculated for the selected study using a random-effects model which signified a high prevalence of periapical lesions in root-filled teeth in diabetic subjects.
