Annual Lecture on “Education 4.0 and Academic Libraries”
Dr O.P. Bhalla Central Library organized its 2nd Annual Lecture on “Education 4.0 and Academic Libraries” today. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ramesh C. Gaur, Director (Library and Information) & Head, Kala Nidhi Division, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, DG-MREI, and Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, VC-MRIIRS were the Guests of Honour for the day. Dr. R.K. Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS; Dr. M.K. Soni, PVC-MRIIRS; Dr. I.K. Bhat, VC, MRU; Dr. Vikram Sharma, University Librarian, MRIIRS; Dr. P.N. Bajpai, Librarian, YMCA-Faridabad were also present during the lecture.
Dr. Gaur shared his valuable experience with the audience in the form of inspiring, informative and interactive lecture. He apprised audience with various research and library related facts. He said, “Internet is not a digital library. Google provides just 15% access to web content, and we need to connect the world with the 85% of the resources”. Smart Librarians-Smart Libraries- the principle he talked about. He talked about the need to conduct leadership development programmes in libraries, and special facilities for differently-abled persons.
He emphasized the need to have learning spaces for group learning to encourage active learning. He said, “Libraries should entertain all kinds of users”. He also introduced the concept of ‘round the clock library facilities’ and discussed its benefits and outcomes as well. Cyber library and Citations were the other topics he shared his views on.
He also shared the future framework of Libraries of Education 4.0- data integration & virtualization, augment reality & wearables, IoT platform, advance human machine interfaces, multilevel user interaction profiling, location detection technologies, and big data analytics.
The lecture was highly interactive and informative.
