Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MRIIRS organized an Alumni Interaction with Sidharth Chauhan – B.Tech, Class of 2015 and M.Tech, Class of 2017 on “Inspiring the Young Minds towards Research and Innovation” on March 11, 2022 via video conferencing.

Sidharth Chauhan is currently pursuing Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar and wished to interact with the students about the importance of Research and Innovation in today’s scenario.

During the interaction, Mr. Chauhan shared his experience at Manav Rachna and expressed his gratitude towards the faculty members for their contribution in his educational journey. He talked about the role of various disciplines of civil engineering, like Structural and Earthquake Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Smart Waste Management and Geo-informatics in Smart Cities Mission (an initiative of GOI).

He also shared how the Industrial Training he received while studying at Manav Rachna bridged the gap between theoretical and practical applications in the real world. He talked about the emerging topics and technologies in research like the sustainability approach and concrete technology.

Mr. Sidharth interacted with the students on multidisciplinary research, highlighting the idea of combining principles of AI, ML and Deep Learning in the core domain of Civil Engineering.

Session ended with tips and tricks for qualifying GATE and other qualifying examinations, where he explained that his key to success is Patience. Prof. (Dr.) Sunita Bansal – Head of Department appreciated Mr. Sidharth Chauhan for taking time out to interact with the students and also extended an invitation to him for conducting a session on his research areas in the upcoming months.
