Alpha-Bio Tec Roadshow 2017
Postgraduate students of Department of Prosthodontics attended a seminar on implants conducted by Alpha-Bio under Nobel Bio-care banner, comprising of lectures from international speakers Dr. Khomich Ilya from the University of Belarus and Dr. Grossman Yoav from Jerusalem, Israel were the key speakers. Dr. Ilya talked about leveraging implant design for predictable clinical success, Dr. Yoav highlighted the benefits and limitations of screw-retained restorations vs. cement retained restorations from a prosthetic point of view.
Both the lectures were extremely interesting and informative, from the standpoint of clinical decision making. They talked about how the quality of bone should dictate the design of the implant to ensure its success and how screw retained prosthesis was a more viable option in the long run, although it was developed keeping in mind the treatment of a failing implant in earlier times but its use in today’s world is more pertaining to prosthetic failure, it’s easy retrievability and replacement leading to a more comfortable patient. Also, the speakers shared pictures from their various cases. The lectures were followed by an interesting round of Q&A session, where various clinicians and students alike shared their difficulties and experiences regarding the same.
