30th TIFAC Foundation Day 2017 at IIT, New Delhi
The 30th TIFAC Foundation Day 2017 was organized at IIT, Delhi with the theme ‘Impact of Exponential Technologies on the Future of Human Species’. The session started with the welcome note for all esteemed panelist and glimpses of TIFAC activities by Prof. Prabhat Ranjan, Executive Director, TIFAC. He discussed various in-house activities which are based on foresight methodologies, horizon scanning and working on cutting edge technologies with patent analysis. He also discussed the road map planned for various technology domains for 2035 (which identified 10 grand challenges). Inaugural session was addressed by Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, DST, Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman,TIFAC and Sh. N.C. Chouhan, Registrar, TIFAC.
The 2nd technical session of the day was moderated by Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, ED, TIFAC and the panel speakers were Prof. Timonthy A. Gonsalves, Director, IIT Mandi; Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Formerly CCR&D, DRDO; Smt. Deepti Navaratna, Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Bengaluru and Shri. Madan Pandit, CEO-TAS Information Intelligence. They discussed the impact of current and future technologies on the future of human species. Sh. Prashant Bhushan, Lawyer, Activist and politician, discussed the current and future law policies of exponential technologies.
Faculty members and students of Manav Rachna University participated in the session. Aman Bhardwaj of B.Tech. CSE 2nd year and Yuvan Saluja of B.Tech. CSE 1st year participated in the Extempore held in the Students’ Pulse session. Yuvan Saluja got the 3rd position and received certificate from Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, ED, TIFAC.
