12th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge cup gets off to a grand start
The most-awaited Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup is celebrating its 12th season this year. The 12thManav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup 2019 was inaugurated today bySmt. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director, Sports, MREI; in the presence of representatives of the 28 corporate teams and senior luminariesfrom MREI.
Smt. Satya Bhallashowered her blessings on all the participating teams while inaugurating the tournament and shared the vision of Dr. O P Bhalla behind instituting the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup.
Dr. Prashant Bhallashared that Manav Rachna Educational Institutions are committed to creating better humanbeings. He said: “As the playfield for the corporate cricket for over a decade now, the Cricket Challenge Cup has become a kind of tradition of Manav Rachna Family packing three months of excitement and sportsman spirit among all. The previous editions of the tournament have been a witness to some of the best cricketing moments. The 12th edition promises to be grander”.
Dr. Amit Bhalla added: “The idea behind conducting this tournament is to bring the top corporate houses on a common ground, inculcating a spirit of sportsmanship. Sports are a testimony of character and competence. May the best team win”!
Mr. Manish, captain of the TCS team complemented Manav Rachna for organizing this tournament year after year. He said: “TCS has been playing in the tournament for the past 10 years and this is undoubtedly one of the best corporate cricket tournaments of Delhi NCR”
At the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Amit, captain of the Legal Titans team which is debuting in the tournament said: “Legal Titans is the best as far as the legal field is concerned. We will try to be the best in this cricket ground as well”.
The Cup, instituted in the memory of Founder Visionary Dr O P Bhalla follows the belief that sports inculcate life-long skills, camaraderie and bonding among players. 28 leading Corporates from Delhi-NCR including Maruti Suzuki (Gurugram); Hero Motocorp (Gurugram); Dabur India (Ghaziabad); TCS (Noida); JCB (Faridabad); Escorts Construction (Faridabad); Aakash Darshan (Delhi); Legal Titan (S.C) (Delhi); Indian Oil Corporation (Faridabad); ACE (Faridabad); Honda Cars (Greater Noida); Aaj Tak (Delhi); Asian Hospital (Faridabad); NDTV (New Delhi); Sarvodaya Hospital (Faridabad), Hindustan Petroleum (Delhi); Wave Infratech (Noida); NHPC (Faridabad); Honda Motorcycles (Gurugram); National Highways Authority of India (Delhi); Accenture (Gurugram); IIFL-Wealth (Delhi); Supreme Court Sports Club (New Delhi); Adidas (Gurugram); Knorr-Bremse (Palwal); DD News (Delhi); Metafab (Faridabad) and Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (Faridabad) are participating in the Cup, this year.
The first match of the day was played between TCS and Legal Titans (Supreme Court).TCS won the toss and elected to field first. Legal Titans scored 139 runs, losing all their wickets in 18.1 overs. Playing an excellent match, they defeated TCS which was restricted to a score of 133 (for nine wickets in 20 overs). Irfan Khan from Legal Titans was declared the ‘Man of the Match’. He took four wickets.
The second match was played between JCB and Akashdarshan. JCB won the toss and decided to bowl first. Akashdarshan scored 89 runs, in 16.3 overs by losing all the wickets. JCB easily won the match in 8.2 overs, by losing 3 wickets. Pradeep from JCB won was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.
