The course Nutrition and Dietetics is the study of the science of nutrition and how to apply dietary aspects in day-to-day life for the overall well-being of an individual. The programme provides in-depth study and comprehensive practical as well as professional knowledge of immense value in view of global acceptance.
The courses are offered at 3 levels:
- Undergraduate programme
- Postgraduate programme
- Doctorate programme
Undergraduate Programme: B.Sc. (Nutrition and Dietetics)
The undergraduate program focuses on science-based on nutrition. It includes imbibing skills of meal planning, how to heal the body through the use of food and learning the importance of therapeutic diets. The subjects are application based and students learn from very basic life science to complex Biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy and physiology etc. After the foundation of these courses, the students are made to understand nutrition subjects both theoretically and practically. The students also get 2 months training in Dietetics department of hospitals increasing employability opportunities.
Eligibility for Bachelors Programme
50% aggregate in the best of five subjects in class 12th from any stream with pass in English.

Postgraduate Programme: M.Sc. (Nutrition and Dietetics)
Postgraduate programme in Nutrition provides in-depth knowledge in various areas of nutrition where students learn therapeutic use of different diets which can be used in clinical settings, understanding various policies and programmes of nutrition by government, planning sports diet for different sports persons and also understanding different food technologies used in food industries. The students in Masters Programme learn advanced courses of Biochemistry, Physiology, and Microbiology along with advanced nutrition specialization subjects. The students are offered four specialization courses, out of which the students chooses his/her specialization course. The Department offers Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food Science and Technology and Sports Nutrition.
Eligibility for Masters Programme
50% in aggregate in Graduation (Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Home Science, Nursing, Food Technology, Medical Lab Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Zoology, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Dental Science, Life science, Sports Science or equivalent examination)

Ph.D (Nutrition and Dietetics)
Ph.D in Nutrition and Dietetics gives opportunity to the students to perform research in various areas of nutrition namely clinical nutrition, Food science and technology, sports nutrition and public health nutrition. The students pursue this course involving course work, publishing the research work etc.
Eligibility for PhD Programme:
Candidate must possess Masters degree in Nutrition. The students are also required to appear for the entrance test but those who are UGC NET/JRF qualified are exempted from the entrance test.

Diploma vs Degree courses:-
The Diploma course in Nutrition and Dietetics makes students skilled enough to become a Dietician whereas a degree course in Nutrition and Dietetics provides opportunity to students to become Nutritionist with scope of more growth in their career.
