Entrepreneurship can be taught!

Entrepreneurship can be taught!

‘Make in India’ has been envisaged to be the engine of growth for the Indian economy. A lot of impetus has been provided to promising ideas for setting- up establishments. Working towards nation- building, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), MRIU works towards entrepreneurship development. As students interact with experts from the industry and go through the MBA programme, they learn about a number of systems prevalent in the corporate world. Through psychometric profiling and mentorship, the innate desire of ‘following one’s dream’ is apparent in some of the students.

Many of FMS students have opted for the entrepreneurial route, having established successful ventures at various locations in North India. The Manav Rachna Incubation and Innovation Centre helps in giving flight to the ideas of these budding entrepreneurs. Guidance is provided by area experts, so as to provide guidance in the initial stages of a business venture. Through a tie- up with Faridabad’s local bodies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), workshops and learning sessions are organized regularly. As a part of the MBA programme, one of the popular areas of specialization is Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The course contents have been designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical skills to build an enterprise from scratch. Honing the entrepreneur within a student, FMS has produced a number of business persons. The industries in which these ventures have made a place range from education, hospitality, event management, online retailing etc.

Says Bhagwant Singh (alumnus of FMS batch of 2011, MD: Global eTree Solutions), “My MBA programme paved the way for my success, as I got the chance to interact with people who taught me to think big and achieve it”. FMS alumni from batch of 2014 (Gaurav Hooda, Deepanshu Chatuvedi, Prakash Veer and Nitin Kumar) attribute the success of their iVastra brand of clothing to the motivation given by FMS faculty members.
