Objectives
- To provide Education & Training in different aspects of Peace and Sustainable Development.
- To inculcate Values of Peace and Sustainability among students.
- To promote Research among youth in the area of Peace and Sustainability focusing on creation of sustainable communities with an attitude of health and wellbeing of all.
- To support Policy Making in the area of Peace at local, University, State and National level through research and experimentation.
- To promote Collaboration and Networking among promoters and practitioners.
Manav Rachna Centre for Peace and Sustainability (MRCPS) was launched on 2nd October 2019. The centre is initiated with vision to bring peace and support the development of India’s peace operations through youth power. Being the epicentre of academic endeavours, training, research, community awareness programmes in all spheres of peace and sustainability, it is sustained by the emancipating vision of Padma Vibhushan Dr Karan Singh as a Chairman of Advisory Board Committee of MRCPS. Dr Ved Prakash, Former Chairman, UGC, Dr Muzaffer Ahmad, former member NDMA, Dr Rajendra Shende, Chairman Terre Policy Centre and Director, UNEP, Padma Shree Dr Meenakshee Gopinathan, Founder WISCOMP, Dr Anand Prakash, Professor & Head, Department of Psychology, Delhi University, Mr. Vishesh Gupta, Chairperson and Board of Directors of Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG), Dr Sushila Bhan, Chairperson, Institute for Peace Research & Action, Lt. Gen S. P. Kochhar, Retired Signal Officer in Chief- Indian Army are some of the Advisory Board Members of MRCPS.
MRCPS under the able mentoring of Chairman Padma Vibhushan Dr Karan Singh and other legendary board members, vision of Dr Prashant Bhalla, resolve of Dr Amit Bhalla and leadership of Dr I K Bhat and commitment of all core committee members as well as faculties and students, is on the path of peace and sustainability. Ever since its inception, it has relentlessly extended support services to the society to prevent, cope up and manage disasters. It emerged during the tough times of pandemic to develop several structured and practice oriented extra-curricular programme for youth to inculcate values and promote indulgence in art and culture-related pursuits for a calm mind to face the disaster. Further, the centre emphasises on peace and sustainability to develop life skills among students, provides awareness and training programme for many SDGs including environmental consciousness.
