MRIU in association with SAE India organized a workshop on ‘Alternative Fuels for Reduced Import Dependence and Environment Protection’ to sensitize the students on effective use of resources and their alternatives for environment protection
MRIU SAE Collegiate club along with Automobile & Biotechnology Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International University in association with SAE Northern India Section conducted a workshop on ‘ALTERNATIVE FUELS FOR REDUCED IMPORT DEPENDENCE AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION’ in the campus here today. SAEINDIA is India’s leading resource for mobility technology. As an individual member-driven society of mobility practitioners, the ownership of SAEINDIA rests with its members who are Individuals from the mobility community, which includes engineers, executives from industry, government officials, academia and students. The students of Automotive and Biotech Engineering, MRIU, along with the students and faculty advisors of KIET, Ghaziabad; Amity University, Noida; Rawal Institutions; Manipal University, Jaipur; Dhronacharya College of Engineering among several others attended the Workshop. The Workshop intended to create awareness among students and researchers about the importance of alternative fuels for automobiles in reducing oil imports and environment protection, motivate students in taking up research projects related to alternative fuels and technologies and identify possible areas of research in production and utilization of alternative fuels apart from providing an opportunity to the students and the faculty to interact with the professionals.
Present on the occasion were Chief Guest- Mr. Cuneyt L. Oge, President, SAE International; Dr. N.C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University; Dr M.K. Soni, Executive Director and Dean, FET, MRIU; Mr. Murli M. Iyer, Executive Advisor – Global, SAE International Vice President – Americas (FISITA) & Global Advisor and Board Member – SAE India; Dr. R.K Malhotra, President, SAE India; Mr. Tapan Sahu, Sr. V.P, R&D, Maruti Suzuki Limited; Mr. A.S Ramadhas, Research Manager, Indian Oil Corp. Limited among other senior dignitaries.
In his welcome address Dr. N.C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU said, “The discussion on the topic-Alternative Fuels and Environment Protection– is the need of the hour. Therefore, we at Manav Rachna keep organizing workshops, conferences, symposiums and expert talks to sensitize our students on these burning topics and to make them aware of the need to work towards a more conducive and greener future.”
Mr. Cuneyt L. Oge, President, SAE International said, “I am visiting India from the United States of America for few days and I have been delivering my thoughts and presentations in various schools during this time. Thus, I am extremely delighted to present my views today at Manav Rachna.” He apprised the audience about the journey of SAE which began in 1905 and its portfolio today. He even shared his insights on ‘Automobility and Aeromobility 2050’. Mr. Cuneyt encouraged the students “to think broadly and differently to become the global leaders of tomorrow”.
There was also an innovative and fruitful interactive session between the SAE President and the students which was followed by technical presentations by Mr. Uttam Kumar Mishra, Sr. Manager Engine Design Division, Maruti Suzuki India Limited who gave a complete overview of the CNG system and its working. Dr. A .S Ramadhas, Research Manager in Vehicle Testing Fuel and Emissions Department, Indian Oil Corporation Limited was the second speaker who gave the complete data about the different alternative fuels such as ethanol, its blends usage in the engines and its effects.
