Manav Rachna Educational Institutions broke new grounds by launching a first-of-its-kind Business Incubator—a whole new concept aimed to take the Institution to the next level and catapult it to the top leagues of innovation-driven institutions in the country. The Institution collaborated with Accendere, a Career Launcher Educate group entity to enable even undergraduate students to participate in research and innovation for producing research publications in Scopus listed journals and patents. Earlier, only PhD and Post graduate students were engaged in the research and innovation process. But with the current Business Incubator launch, second year Undergraduate students and 1st year post graduate students would actively participate in the research-driven initiatives at the campus.
The launch which commenced with a Visioning Workshop with the entire leadership of MREI, was attended by Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI and VC, MRU; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU, among others .
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI, said, “The Business Incubator launched at MREI is a tribute to the vision and legacy of Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla who was intensely passionate about innovation and took an avid interest in students’ innovative projects and out-of-the-box thinking. While our Faculty members would act as the Conditioning agents, Accendere, our partners, would be the catalysts to facilitate the Business Incubator. MREI’s partnership with Accendere would help students come to the forefront of research with innovation being integrated into their everyday curriculum right from the second year of Engineering itself.”
While addressing the gathering at the launch and Visioning Workshop, Mr R. Satyanayanan, Chairman and Founder, CL Educate Ltd, said, “Our tie-up with Manav Rachna follows in the wake of some startling statistics: It is said that 74% of the new GDP of any new economy is going to be created by the youth that is less than 24 years of age. Manav Rachna and Accendere would thus integrate students in its enterprising mission, vision and goals. We would aim to being about seed funding or angel investing as an integral part of this 2020 initiative.”
The tie-up would also involve corporate funded fellowships, funded research and creating centres of excellence. Financial technology, Autotechnology, Energy (including solar power) and IOT (Internet of Things) would be the core areas of focus for innovation.
The Launch programme was followed by a Seminar on ‘One Million Innovators’ in which Mr R. Satyanayanan, Chairman and Founder, CL Educate Ltd, spoke to Faculty members on ‘Entrepreneurship and Education’, discussing at length about ‘Aspirations’, ‘Folding the future in’, ‘Focusing on Next Practices’, ‘Thinking differently about the here and now and bringing about transformation through imagination, passion and courage’ which is amply evident among today’s youth. The seminar also witnessed a talk and presentation session delivered by Dr. Poulomi Ganguly, Director of Research, CL Educate on ‘Creating an Innovation Ecosystem’ before wrapping up with a ‘Research Proposal Writing’ initiative for the Faculty by Dr. R Shivaraman, Director and Founder, Accendere.
