Experiential and Outcome-Based Learning Workshop for Faculties at MRIU
Internal Quality Assurance cell and Academic Staff College of MRIU had jointly organized a 2 week Workshop on Experiential and Outcome-Based Learning for various faculties of Manav Rachna International University
– 30 Academic sessions were conducted during the fortnight
– 15 Resource persons including 9 External Consultants and Experts of Industry and Academia from institutions like Delhi University, I.P University, YMCA University, M.D University and GGSIPU, apart from reputed organisations like Su-Kam and NEN enlightened Faculty members
– As many as 240 Faculty members benefited from the Workshop
Experiential Learning (EL) is a widely-used pedagogy in higher education all over the world for improving classroom productivity and learning outcomes. It is now an integral part of articulated educational approach followed by reputed institutions. Keeping in view the efficacy of Experiential Learning in Faculty Development, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Academic Staff College of Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) jointly organized a 2 week Workshop on Experiential and Outcome-Based Learning for various faculties of MRIU
The objective of the workshop was to enable the Faculty Members to introspect and to develop new teaching learning pedagogies in order to achieve quality in education.
Most of the resource persons were taken from senior faculty of reputed institutions in the region. The workshop had 30 academic sessions in all with 15 resource persons delivering lectures on various issues. Incidentally, 9 sessions were delivered by external resource persons who belonged to reputed institutions such as Delhi University, I.P University, YMCA University, M.D University and GGSIPU. There were experts too from reputed organizations like Su-Kam and NEN.
The Workshop focused on areas like Organizing Press conference, Management Games, Brainstorming Sessions, Role Play, Case Study, Experimental Learning, Field Survey, Model Building, Live Projects, Panel Discussion, Conducting Interviews, Product Designing, Decision Making, Product Demos, Making Sales Pitch, Writing a Business Plan, Negotiation Sessions,
Problem based Learning, Evidence Based Practice and Observational Learning.
As many as 240 Faculty members benefitted from the Workshop. The closing session of the Programme was graced by Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University, Professor Anil Sarin and Professor Promila Batra.
Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU stated, “Faculty needs to be refreshed with the tools of experiential and outcome- based learning so that classroom transactions are made interactive, interesting and more useful. Such tools are also being used by Central Universities to enrich the knowledge base of its Faculty At MRIU such workshops are a step in the right direction.”
Dr Suresh Bedi, Director, IQAC and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, MRIU concluded the session emphasizing that the Workshop had succeeded in its goal of inculcating the right teaching-learning pedagogy among Faculty to help them impart Quality Education.
