‘Udaan’ as the name signifies, inspires individuals to soar high and give expression to their creative and independent streak as they take on new experiences with ambition and drive. It is this spirit that is greatly reflected in the 5-day Orientation programme (July 25-29, 2016) of Faculty Management Studies (FMS), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU). With Udaan 2016, the Faculty warmly welcomed its new comers and initiated students into the Manav Rachna way of life.
The first day commenced with the invocation to the Almighty as the Senior dignitaries of MREI, Deans, Directors, Faculty and new students propitiated the Gods with a Havan ceremony praying for peace and prosperity.
Welcoming Freshers at MREI and addressing them “as our loving children” at the Havan ceremony on the first day, Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI, said, “Havan ceremonies at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions marks the commencement of every special occasion, event and milestone. It was a tradition initiated by Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla who believed in its deeply spiritual significance. Havan is meant to purify our souls and the environment, paving the way for overall prosperity and growth. I bless our new students to dedicate themselves towards the realization of their dreams and goals and firmly believe that FMS, which is in its ninth year, will go on towards its ninetieth year. May our children, with the Almighty’s grace, forge ahead for a bright and prosperous future.
Addressing the gathering of new students at a formal session on the first day, Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, stated, “Learning is not a mere part of curriculum but a lifelong holistic journey of classroom exploration well complimented with constant interactions with faculty members, peer group, management and industry experts.” He emphasized on the holistic development of an individual and emphasized on the importance of the Orientation programme in helping students evolve as better and successful human beings.
The first day also familiarized the students with the facilities and support extended by the University, its initiatives in the field of Academics and CSR besides apprising them of the awaiting pool of learning opportunities and expectations.
The programme over a 5 day period is replete with a wide array of events and activities in which students will experience an ice-breaking session, engage in Group interaction with Faculty members, take a campus tour, undergo Pre Assessment Test for English Communication under the guidance of Career Development Centre to learn about the various skills required for success and the support available at MRIU; attend a Workshop on Gender Sensitization at the Workplace conducted by Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr Neeta Dhabhai. On the lighter side, students would go on a Treasure Hunt as part of the ‘Mind Games’ series, experience Faculty and peer mentoring and engage in ‘Stress Buster’ sessions through ‘Learning from Sports’ and indulge in Sports through ‘Group Competitions’. All of these activities are geared towards the holistic development of students to help them emerge as successful thoughtful leaders of the future.
