One Day Training Program on Rights of Women

Department of Students’ Welfare, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in association with National Human Rights Commission organized a one-day Training Program on ‘Rights of Women’ on 15 January 2019. More than 200 students and faculty members attended the programme. Present on the occasion were Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, VC-MRIIRS, Dr. M.K. Soni, Pro-VC, MRIIRS, and Dean Students Welfare; Ms. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Associate Dean Students Welfare.
The Chief Guest for the day was Ms. Nitika Gahlaut, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Faridabad and Guest of Honour was Dr. Shivangi Malethia. Dr. NC Wadhwa highlighted the role of women in the society and their strengths. Jitesh, a student of Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies shared his feelings about the safety of women in the society.
Ms. Nitika Gahlaut brought the sacrifices and hard works of various women personalities to the limelight, mentioning some inspiring stories of rape victims. She opined that the passion, strong will and hard work can show the real strengths of women to the world. Dr. Shivangi Malethia,Empowerment Coach and TED Speaker for Women Rights shared her journey to be Mrs. India Worldwide 2014, Mrs. Heritage World 2015 and a founder of Queen in making. She also expressed that how a woman should fight for their rights and everyone is equal in this society.
Dr. Punita Hasija– President Indian Medical Association (Faridabad Chapter) talked about maternal health and reproductive health of women. She apprised the audience about the lack of basic health necessities in the rural areas. Dr. Shilpa Thakur, General Secretary, Indian Dietetics Association, Delhi Chapter talked about the importance of nutrition for women. She shared that in some sections of the society, women still receive the LEAST and the LAST food which affect their health badly.
Ms. Madhuri Bakshi, Chairperson-Local Complaints Committee, Faridabad talked about the Violence against women, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. She also discussed the legal details of sexual harassment in the workplace, followed by the discussion on Article in the Indian Constitution and its implementation.
