Manav Rachna celebrated International Women’s Day in association with NHRC

Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) organized One Day Training Program on ‘Rights of Women’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day in association with National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The occasion was graced the revered presence of Mrs. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS; Dr. I.K. Kilam, Dean Students Welfare (DSW); and Ms. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Associate Dean Students Welfare. The Chief Guest for the day was Ms. Pooja Dabla, ACP Women Cell, Faridabad. In addition to this, nearly hundred students and faculty members from different faculties of Manav Rachna were present to celebrate International Women’s Day with DSW.
The event started with a ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony accompanied by Saraswati Vandana by all the dignitaries present in the event. Dr. I.K. Kilam welcomed everyone and spoke about the achievements of women in every field. He also shared a message poetically that the existence of a MAN is impossible without a WOMAN.
Dr. N.C.Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS dwelled at length about the positive role of women and also talked about all the strengths of women. He welcomed all the esteemed speakers that were present on the occasion.
Mrs. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron MREI also showered her blessings through a video message. In her message to all the young girls, she said that a woman has the privilege to be multi-talented and to be able to balance the family and work at the same time. She wished everyone a Happy Women’s Day.
Ms. Pooja Dabla, ACP Women Cell, Faridabad listed all the fearless and strong woman of the era who not only do the household work but made their country and families proud with their passion, efforts, hard work and strong will to do something, and proved themselves as multitasking Superheroes. She also shared that most of the rape cases and eve-teasing cases are done by the lower classes who are usually drunk during such incidents.
Ms. Deepa Antil who is an educationalist before being a social activist graced the stage with her mesmerizing thoughts. During her interactive session with the delegates, she mentioned about her love to groom the young talent of the nation. She also shared her greatest achievements about heading an organisation named “Shakti Nari Parishad”. The talk discussed about the Sexual harassment of women at workplace and related complaint mechanism, Women trafficking, Issues relating to women of disadvantaged sections or persons with disability.
Ms. Teena Sharma, Director & HoD ASSOCHAM, an accomplished women and child activist, talked about the Violence against women, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence and informed about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
Dr. Varsha Vahini, HOD, Law Department, Manav Rachna University came up on the stage and talked about International Covenants regarding Human Rights, Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, and Composition and functioning of NHRC/SHRCs/National Commission for Women. She also conducted a questionnaire on Domestic Violence against Women and discussed the same.
Dr Mahima Bakshi who is a Women and Child Specialist in Rainbow Hospital and also an accomplished Alumni of Manav Rachna, talked about the maternal health and reproductive health of women. She talked about how many people even though they are living in urban areas lack the basic accessibility to clean sanitary products. She also talked about how one can take care of themselves properly in such environments.
Dr Nilanjana Singh, President, Indian Dietetics Association informed the audience about the Nutritional deficiencies among women, Education and Employment issues.
The audience was mesmerized to see and hear all the distinguished lady speakers as they talked with such radiance, confidence and how hard they have worked to be on the position they are right now. All the females sitting as an audience were very inspired and filled with positive energy that they wanted to channelize their efforts to be a better version of themselves.
