Expert Talk on Introduction to Mitsubishi Electric Power Devices
Department of Electrical Electronics and Communication Engineering had organized an expert Lecture on ‘Introduction to Mitsubishi Electric Power Devices’ by Dr. Gourab Majumdar Senior Fellow, Semiconductor & Device Group, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan.
Dr. Majumdar is an IIT, Delhi graduate in Electrical Engineering and Doctorate in Engineering from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan in 2005. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Invention Award in Japan for the invention of the IPM (Intelligent Power Module).
He has also received other prestigious awards, including the ‘Monozukuri Nihon Taishou’ (Japan Craftsmanship Grand Prix) award from the honorary Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2013. He was inducted to IEEE-ISPSD Hall Of Fame for his pioneering global role in progressing IGBT and IPM technologies in May 2018.
He talked about the latest trends in power electronic devices and its numerous applications in the field of automation industries, homes, traction systems etc. He also enlightened the audience with the latest energy-saving regulations followed all over the world which constitutes the green technology. He discussed intelligent power modules available for refrigeration, air-conditioning, washing machines and other domestic applications and shared information about the latest different xEV-shift government policies followed globally to ensure the electrification of all ground vehicles by 2040.
In the end, there was an interactive session with the students and it is expected that the knowledge gained by this lecture will aid students and research scholars to extract the best results in their work.
