Debate on ‘Section 377’ organized at FMeH as a Clan activity
The Bachelors’ and Masters’ students of Journalism at Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities (FMeH) participated in a debate on the Supreme Court’s verdict on ‘Section 377’. Around 20 students participated in the debate and spoke for and against the motion. Present during the debate was Dr. Neemo Dhar, Dean- FMeH who appreciated the efforts of the students. She also pointed out that ‘body language’ of participants is very important. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Shailja Naqvi addressed the students and said, “You are students of Journalism and will be Gatekeepers of tomorrow, you must, therefore, take utmost care and read both views of any topic to be able to express your views on any subject.”
While some of them pointed out that the verdict was not in keeping with the culture of India, the others argued that every individual should have the freedom of love and expression.
Ms. Shailja Naqvi gave away the first and second prizes to Amit Anand (Forest Rhinos) and Vidit Aggarwal (Air Falcon).
